Nehemiah 2:11–16 - Clarity in the quiet

There is a type of clarity that can only be formed in the quiet. There is a resolve that is birthed away from the pressure of other voices. There is a vision and direction that God only communicates in solitude. Nehemiah’s first step when arriving in Jerusalem was not to illicit support, sell his vision or make friends. His first order of business was to assess the situation and to see it with his own eyes. It’s important before we undertake anything significant to get away on our own. It’s important to escape from the voices in our life, the pressures of the road ahead and view our situation with God’s voice speaking into it. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’ 2 Corinthians 9:7

Take some time today to be somewhere quiet and let God speak to you, let God impart faith in you, let God place fresh resolve in you – write down what comes to mind.
